With a rapidly growing economy and an eager domestic market, Brazil presents a dynamic environment with a range of valuable business opportunities for entrepreneurs. As mentioned, Oficialize is focusing on small to medium size businesses by helping them incorporate one of three types of companies.  The first, a “Sociedade Limitada”, or LTDA, is the simplest and most popular form which requires at least two partners and economic activities organized around production or circulation of goods and services. PagPop, a 21212 alumni, recently made it to Mashable on their list of “25 Startups in unlikely places around the world.” PagPop is an online e-payment platform that allows self-employed individuals and businesses to easily and efficiently accept credit cards for their sales.  We are excited to see them make the cut and intrigued that Rio is considered an unlikely place!

This April, 21212 partner Rafael Duton attended Business Design Summit in Berlin, an event hosting a range of panels and discussions focused on Entrepreneurship with guest speakers like Alex Osterwalder, Steve Blank, Mark Johnson and Henry Chesbrough. Below is a text he wrote to share his thoughts and experiences:

Os maiores pensadores do mundo em inovação e modelagem de negócios se reuniram em Berlim para compartilhar aprendizados e apresentar diversas novidades na implementação de ferramentas para criação de negócios inovadores.

Em um evento para apenas 250 convidados que vieram de 28 países, 11 pensadores, entre eles Alex Osterwalder, Steve Blank, Mark Johnson (representando seu sócio Clayton Christensen) e Henry Chesbrough, apresentaram os avanços nas principais metodologias existentes voltadas à inovação.

Osterwalder e Yves Pigneur, autores do best-seller Business Model Generation, falaram sobre os dez principais aprendizados na implementação dessa ferramenta em mais de cem grandes empresas nos últimos anos. Mostraram, também, os diferentes níveis de implementação do business model canvas e da sua integração com outras metodologias como customer development / lean startup de Steve Blank.

Por fim, detalharam a importância de se modelar profundamente o segmentos de clientes e a proposta de valor antes mesmo de desenvolver o canvas. Isto pode ser conferido em uma ferramenta complementar desenvolvida por eles descrita no artigo Test your value proposition: supercharge Lean Startup and Custdev principles.

Mark Johnson ratificou isto e complementou apresentando uma ferramenta para melhor definir o “job to be done”. É possível entender mais sobre o tema em seu excelente livro Seizing the White Space.

Steve Blank foi incumbido, simplesmente, de fechar o congresso. Indescritível! Pra uma plateia basicamente composta por executivos e consultores do mercado corporativo junto a grandes acadêmicos de todo mundo, ver um empreendedor como ele falando de startups e deixando todos absolutamente perplexos foi realmente incrível. Não à toa, a Harvard Business Review – publicação mundial mais importante do mundo dos negócios – tem estampada em sua última capa o artigo Why the Lean Start-Up Changes Everything, escrito pelo próprio. É o mundo das startups mostrando que a saída para inovação no mercado corporativo é aprender e fazer junto com elas.

Diversas outras ferramentas voltadas para inovação foram apresentadas com destaque para o Business Opportunity Canvas – de Muki Hansteen-Izora, pesquisador e estrategista de inovação na Intel Labs. Estando a um passo antes do Business Model Canvas, a ferramenta possui foco no processo de identificação de oportunidades.

Bem, a experiência para alguém como eu –estando envolvido com empreendedorismo há 15 anos, tendo estudado por mais de dois anos o processo de identificação de oportunidades empreendedoras (tema da minha dissertação de mestrado) e nos últimos cinco anos tendo aplicado na prática as ferramentas de business model canvas e customer development–, foi como estar na Disneylândia!

E, como já é prática na 21212, todos os conhecimentos absorvidos serão transformados em workshops, treinamentos e cursos para as startups aceleradas, e serão testados/implementados na prática. Alguns muito provavelmente não funcionarão, outros irão precisar de inúmeros ajustes, mas o aprendizado gerado pelo choque entre a teoria e a prática é sempre imensurável.

Os resultados serão compartilhados por nós ao longo do tempo para que estas ferramentas possam ser aprimoradas e também ajudar a todos os empreendedores que desejam criar negócios inovadores – dentro ou fora de suas atuais empresas.
